CPU in DF

Now listen to me, I understand that you little guys start out with your wouby's, and you think they are great...and they are. They are terrific, but pretty soon a wouby isn't enough. Your out on the street trying to score an electric blanket, maybe even a quilt. Then the next thing you know your strung out on bedspreads, Ken! That's serious! Now gimmie the wouby. - Mister Mom

Handy way to show that even though we can fit billions of transistors on something the size of a finger-nail, they're still just a bunch of little mechanical gates. Awesome work.

I can't say I understand it either, but it seems as though some uber nerd has built a CPU in his fort using pressure plates, stone, and dwarf vomit. It controls the galaxy.

A lot of that document looks like the second half of a logic course I took. The scary math part that I mostly fail at. I'll need to wait for the capt duck 10-part tutorial.

Yeah I had to make a Turing complete hypothetical processor for compsci in a similar exercise to his documentation... but actually doing it in DF is fucking madness. In such a CPU munching game it's like a ship in a bottle on a ship in a bottle on a star destroyer.

Someone did something similar in Little Big Planet for the PS3, iirc he made a functional calculator. There is a youtube video somewhere.

Somewhere... Do you think it's on YouTube?

War, war is stupid. And people are stupid. And love means nothing in some strange quarters.
